About Us

Independent Locations (I.L.) is a unique location company, created by owner Dennis Koch, predominantly for the Still Photography Industry. Dennis is a native of Los Angeles and
grew up in the San Fernando Valley.  He traveled around the world modeling from the late 80’s until the early 90’s.  It was then he discovered his passion for Architecture and photography.  While having the chance to work with some of the best photographers from around the world (Italy, Spain, Germany, London, Tokyo, and New York) it was then that he saw that Architecture and photography, when combined, could be spectacular.  After his return to Los Angeles, he started researching the history of Architecture in Southern California, and found out that all the famous Architect’s designed and built properties in and around the Los Angeles area.  With that knowledge he created Independent Locations.

Independent Locations library is growing daily and is currently comprised of over 2,500 locations. Independent Locations represents privately owned properties and businesses, as well as a wide variety of Natural Sites such as Beaches, Parks, Deserts, and Lake locations (check our library list for further categories).

Our library features homes designed by some of the greatest Architects such as Richard Neutra, R.M. Schindler, John Lautner, Joseph Eichler, Richard Dorman, Ray Kappa, Frank Gehry, Ed Niles, Frank Llyod Wright, Pierre Koening…the list goes on.

Independent Locations is growing rapidly and has never lost sight of our commitment to the Client, that is why at the request of our Clients, Independent Locations now offers complete Photographic Production Services.  Our friendly staff members have been producing photo shoots in Los Angeles and beyond for over 15 years, their production experience, plus extensive, loyal and helpful contacts, will save you time and money.  With a commitment to excellence and a hands on approach with all of our Clients, Independent Locations staff members are there from the beginning, middle and end, ensuring your shoot runs smoothly.
